This workshop by Nick White was one of the most creative workshops I have ever attended which took place at ELCAF 2018 (East London's Comic Art Festival) with a very simple concept of scribbling on blank pieces of paper, which I personally thought would be great for artist to get rid of any kind of creative block. Through the workshop he shows us how a scribble, mark or pattern can turn into a start of something new, could be a magazine, a comic strip or a series of paintings. But, the main intention of this workshop was to help all the participants embrace the nonsense, joy of creating shapes and playing with lines. He started this session with a classic "doodle game" where we got lost drawing and creating things we never imagined.

So, everyone participating had a different colour in their hand and the squiggly lines were made by different people in the group and passed on the paper to the next person on their right hand side. I was holding an orange marker so through out all the exercises the orange represents me.

These were two group scribbles as you can see the different colours the scribbles unfolded into a conversation between two characters. Characters, we never would have thought of otherwise. These 2 exercises were to get us warmed up and to loosen up our lines. I also, thought this was a great way of making new friends because here we participated in a group and it was nice to interact with everyone who was participating in this session.

From loose lines and shapes to forming imagainary characters.

These were all 1 second scribbles. Trying to tell a story out of the squiggly line drawn by the person sitting next to me. I felt her lines represented a clash, a sudden combustion which made me imagine a witch and a wizard meeting for the first time.

from all the scribbles that were done during this session I had to pick a character and develop it and then Nick White asked us questions, which I answered on the paper which appears on the right side of the frame above. The questions were: What would your character's name be. What kind of character did you end up with. what would be, your characters favourite food. The wifi password of your character, and what talent does your character poses. I was surprised by this outcome and Nick White proved the power of a doodle in these exercises above.

What a great way to unleash creativity at its rawest form! The doodles look amazing. So many interesting stories can come up from the simplest of things. You've described the workshop perfectly, in all it's essence.
